New Years Eve Update..

It has been a busy couple of days for Delaney. Yesterday Delaney was at UCSF for another transfusion of platelets, her counts were at their lowest since she started chemotherapy, her platelets were at 15. Normal range is 140-400, this is especially important to pay attention to because of her recent brain operation. Delaney also had have both caps changed on her Broviac, and well as a her NG tube changed, this is one the most difficult things to have done to Delaney. Once the old NG tube is pulled out the new NG tube is lubed up and while Daddy holds her in his lap the nurse inserts the NG tube up Delaney's nose then it turns down and comes out near the back of the mouth, then down her throat. This causes a big gag reflex but we tell her to swallow, so it will aid in the NG making it to the stomach. Next Delaney had another x-ray to confirm the placement was correct. Then it was time to head home. Delaney is +8 days from her chemotherapy treatment and is still nauseous, and in the car ride home on the bay bridge Delaney began to vomit. This is tough to deal with when you can not be warned in advance. It is still not possible yet for Delaney to express what she feels like. Amidst it all Delaney is in good spirits and happy, fueling Mommy and Daddy with the energy they need.

Today was awesome in the show of support by you, Team Delaney! The blood drive in honor of Delaney was more than successful. We have come to realize the need for blood and platelets during Delaney's treatment. You can't go to the store and pick up a pint of blood or platelets next to the Gatorade or Pedialyte for your child. It is invaluable, but given selflessly without hesitation by individuals in the immediate community and surrounding ones. As dark and heavy things may be there is always a glowing fire that grows big to light the way, be it from Delaney herself or Team Delaney. There is so much positive and good out there. Thank you so much. Thank you for all the prayers, love and support. As always... GO TEAM DELANEY!

Have a safe and Happy New Year!
