Thursday Recap....and FIERCE FRIDAY today for Delaney

Delaney did great over night yesterday, and it was another good day, no vomit for two days now. As it is scheduled every Monday and Thursday, Mommy and Daddy did a blood draw and dropped it off in Walnut Creek by 7 am. Then it was a scramble to get everything ready to head to Kaiser Oakland for an audiology appointment, and wait to see what her blood counts are and see what UCSF recommends Delaney. The audiologist assessed Delaney through a couple of hearing tests and then what he described as echo. Through ear buds they bounce sounds off the small hairs on her ear drum to see how they respond and this would be the first sign of damage to her hearing from the chemotherapy. To our relief the is no damage, a small victory, but none the less a victory. While Daddy was with Delaney helping out with the hearing test, Mommy received a call form UCSF, and as we expected she would need platelets. Off to UCSF we go. We got to UCSF a little early and waited in the car for about 45 minutes, this is out of caution because we did not want to have Delaney, who is severely neutropenic, exposed to people and dirty surfaces. Once in the clinic Delaney was able to receive the platelets she needed. Unlike blood, platelets are universal, anybody can give them and anyone can receive them. Delaney had no sign of reaction, and we were allowed to go home. It was a busy day, but a successful one. Friday Delaney will be on 11 different medications given around the clock, as well as formula and liquids. Delaney is happy, getting stronger, and keeping fierce. We hope to keep making ground and getting her healthy for her next treatment in 2 weeks from Friday. Thank you for all the prayers, love and support. As always....GO TEAM DELANEY!
