Saturday Update

Saturday Update

It has been very busy the past few days with giving more medication around the clock and managing Delaney's nausea and intake of food or liquids. Delaney had a good day yesterday, she herself has ups and downs feeling good and then sick. This happens through out the day. She has her moods and that's ok, it is frustrating but we work around it. Delaney is crawling still, crawling well, however she is still not walking on her own, since the operation. She is able to stand up, and stand for few brief moments before she becomes to unsteady and must sit back down. It is a slow process to re-learn how to walk, and emotionally hard on Mommy and Daddy, because they watched her make her first steps as a baby on her own only a year and a half ago before that was sharply taken away. Delaney is fierce, she works hard at it every day, she will walk on her own once again, but in time. Chemotherapy is a unforgiving double edged sword, it kills everything down to the cellular level in her body, which we need it to do, but some of the visual effects are hard to watch. Delaney's beautiful long eyelashes have and are continuing to fall out, she has hung on to them for sometime now, even some nurses were surprised to see she still had some. We know some of these things are temporary and are a means to an end but, it is difficult. Delaney's home health nurse came by again, evaluated Delaney and said she is looking good. Mommy and Daddy did a Broviac dressing change and the nurse did a cap change for them. Before we left the Delaney's last chemotherapy treatment they said there would be many ups and downs before Delaney's body recovers again. Thank you for all the prayers, love and support. As always.... GO TEAM DELANEY! "And though she be but LITTLE she is FIERCE!"
